Nave Newell has been working on various site improvement projects throughout the Haverford College campus since 2014. Work has included topographic mapping of the campus, site analysis/schematic design and design development for the necessary permitting and approvals for a pond dredging, a sidewalk extension, and athletic facilities improvements which included resodding Walton soccer/lacrosse field, resurfacing of Johnson track, and the relocation of field events. We also prepared various sketches to demonstrate options for moving the softball field. Other significant projects included the adaptive reuse of the Ryan Gym for a Visual Communications Arts and Music (VCAM) complex, two new greenhouses to support their Arboretum, and a trail relocation.
Most recently we worked with the College Arboretum Director and Head of Facilities to enhance the existing Whitehead Campus Center entrance to create a positive first impression for potential students and their families. The Campus Center redesign includes landscape, hardscape, ADA, and signage/wayfinding improvements. We also worked with the College's architect on a re-imagined music hall. The Campus Center redesign was completed in 2020 and the new Music Building opened in Fall 2021.
