King of Prussia Mall

Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, PA

Simon, a global leader in retail real estate, chose Nave Newell to complete a 155,000 sf expansion project to connect The Court and The Plaza at the King of Prussia Mall. The expansion provides space for 50 additional retailers, restaurants and community spaces, making it one of the largest shopping centers in the United States with 2.86 million sf of retail space under one roof.

The proposed project design was complex- with the expansion planned on columns, major utility relocations, and parking underneath. Nave Newell performed a topographic and boundary survey of the property. During the planning phase, careful consideration was made for utility impacts, sanitary sewer use calculations, and stormwater management. Due to the area being prone to sinkholes, a creative stormwater management system was required to regulate both rate and water quality. Nave Newell also prepared detailed land development and construction plans and calculations and secured approval for Township, County and State permitting requirements in just 9 months. To accommodate an active shopping mall during 2 holiday seasons, we prepared construction-phasing plans with the client and construction manager. The $150 million expansion opened in August 2016 to glowing reviews
