When pulling up to the clubhouse at Llanerch Country Club, it’s hard to miss the new pavilions – the latest project constructed to maximize outdoor dining space. Situated just above the 18th green, the two pavilions are an ideal spot for golfers to relax, grab a bite to eat, or have a drink at the end of their round. It’s a place to meet up with family and friends and ultimately spend more time at the club. For clubs, it’s a great way to boost their food and beverage revenue!

As we covered earlier this year, many Philadelphia area golf and country clubs are moving ahead with capital improvement projects. The focus is mostly on creating and improving outdoor amenities. This trend is partially a result of the pandemic, but also a response to the changing preferences of members and their families. For some clubs, it’s simply what they need to do to stay competitive.
We’re currently working with several area clubs on improvement projects, and we’re excited to give you a tour of the new outdoor amenities now offered at Llanerch Country Club. Let’s take a closer look at the project.
Enhancing outdoor space with new amenities
During the pandemic, Llanerch Country Club reached out to us about exterior amenity enhancements. We quickly got to work on the design and permitting required for these two pavilions and outdoor seating areas to expand the exterior amenity options at their club. The work included a survey of the existing features, utility investigation, site plan design, stormwater management, and a grading permit plan. With careful design, we were able to avoid full land development and get the project approved with a grading permit, streamlining the process.
The new space, which was completed earlier this year includes:
- One open-air pavilion with a bar and high-top table seating
- A second open-air pavilion with:
- A lounge seating area
- Tables and chairs
- Foodservice counter
- Wood-burning fireplace
- A gas-burning fire pit with seating
- ADA-compliant circulation throughout the patio areas
- Landscaping and lighting to enhance the space
- Overhead heaters, fireplace, and fire pits to extend use into the cooler months

For this project, we enjoyed working with:
- Architecture – Chambers Architectural Associates
- Construction – Pancoast & Clifford
The new amenities seamlessly tie into the existing terrace with seating and the garden landing, ultimately expanding their outdoor offerings.
